Thermal-break aluminium and glass

Outdoor surfaces in Dubai get very hot, and an aluminium frame is a thermal weak point. Standard aluminium conducts heat straight through into an air-conditioned room, which raises cooling load and can cause condensation. A thermal-break profile puts an insulating polyamide barrier inside the extrusion, separating the hot exterior metal from the cool interior metal.

Paired with double-glazed glass, that is the specification that actually performs on exterior glazing, and it is what we recommend for windows, doors and facades. Slim framed systems let you keep more glass and more view.

Toughened or laminated glass

  • Toughened (tempered) glass is heat-treated and far stronger than ordinary glass. If it breaks, it fragments into small, blunt pieces. It suits shower enclosures, doors and many balustrades.
  • Laminated glass bonds two panes with an interlayer. If it breaks, the shards stay stuck and the pane holds together. It is used where a fall or full failure has to be prevented, and for acoustic or solar performance.

Balustrade glass and pool fencing carry real safety duties, so type, thickness and fixing are specified to the application.
