What We Build and What Is Included
We take a pool from the first site visit to the first swim. A full project covers:
- Design. Shape, depth profile, steps and sun shelf, edge detail, tile and finish, with 3D visuals you approve before anything is ordered.
- Engineering. The structural design of the shell, the waterproofing details and the plant room layout, prepared by qualified engineers.
- Approvals support. Pool drawings, the community NOC and the authority submission, followed through to the permit.
- Construction. Excavation, the reinforced shell, plumbing, tiling, coping and the surrounding deck.
- Equipment. Pumps, filters, sanitation, heating and cooling, lighting and automation, sized to the pool.
- Handover. Commissioning, water balancing and a walk-through of the controls, so you know what the pool needs week to week.
You deal with one team from start to finish. If the tiling slips, that is our problem to fix, not something you pass between a designer and a builder.
Pool Types We Build
The type of pool decides the shapes you can have, how long the build takes and what the site must allow. We build:
- Concrete (gunite). A reinforced shell formed on site. Any shape, size and finish, which is why it is the usual choice for a villa garden. See concrete pools.
- Fibreglass. A factory-made shell lifted onto a prepared base. Quicker on site and smooth underfoot, but limited to the shapes the manufacturer makes, and the shell has to reach your plot. See fibreglass pools.
- Infinity or overflow. One edge sits level with the water and spills into a catch channel, so the pool appears to meet the view. It needs more engineering for levels and the balance tank. See infinity pools.
- Plunge pool. A small, deep pool for cooling off in a courtyard or on a terrace. See plunge pools.
- Lap pool. Long and narrow, for swimming lengths in a slim garden. See lap pools.
- Rooftop and indoor pools. These start with the building. Floor loading, waterproofing, drainage and ventilation have to be confirmed before a design is worth drawing, so we survey the structure first.
Not sure which suits your plot? We will tell you after the site visit. For the wider pool service range, including cleaning, repairs and equipment, see our swimming pools hub.
Designing a Pool for Dubai's Climate
A pool in Dubai works harder than a pool in a cooler city. We design for that from the first drawing.
- Heat. In summer an uncooled pool can get as warm as bath water. We size a pool chiller, or a combined heat and chill unit, together with the pool and leave room for it in the plant layout. A heat pump takes the chill off the water in winter. See pool equipment.
- Evaporation. Hot, dry air pulls water off the surface. We plan the water-level control and the top-up supply, and discuss a cover.
- Shade. A pergola, shade sail or planting on the sunniest side keeps the deck usable. A pergola can be designed with the pool deck.
- Sand and dust. Dust loads the water and clogs filters. Correctly sized filtration, well-placed skimmers and an accessible plant room make the pool easier to keep clean.
- Sun on finishes. Strong UV fades poor tile and coatings. We specify finishes for the exposure and think about how hot the surface gets underfoot.
- Water treatment. Chlorine or salt sanitation, pH and chemical dosing, circulation and filtration. We agree the system with you and set up the controls.
Around the Pool
A pool is only part of the garden. We can design and build the rest with it: pool lighting, the deck and landscape, an outdoor kitchen and fountains. Doing it together means the levels, drainage and power are planned once.
Approvals Before We Dig
A private pool is a permitted construction activity in Dubai. We do not start excavation until the approval is in place.
- Community or developer NOC. In a master community, the developer's NOC comes first. Requirements differ by community, so we check yours at the start.
- Dubai Municipality. On the mainland, the pool plans go through the Build in Dubai portal.
- Trakhees. In Nakheel and Palm communities, the submission goes through Trakhees instead.
- DEWA. Power for the pump and plant room, and the water connection, are coordinated with DEWA.
- Drainage and safety barrier. Backwash and drain-down routes and the child-safety barrier are part of the submission.
We prepare the drawings and manage the submission and inspections on your behalf. The permit itself is issued by the authority, and timing depends on the authority and your community. The full chain is set out on our swimming pool approval page.
How a Pool Project Runs
- Consultation and site visit. We look at the plot, access, soil and services, and ask how you will use the pool.
- Design. Layout, 3D visuals, materials and an equipment list. You approve before we go further.
- Engineering and approvals. Structural drawings, then the NOC and the authority submission.
- Excavation and shell. Excavation, steel, the shell and its waterproofing, and the pipework.
- Finishes. Tiling or interior finish, coping, deck and lighting.
- Equipment and commissioning. Plant fitted and tested, pool filled and the water balanced.
- Handover. Controls explained, snags cleared and a care routine agreed.
How long each stage takes depends on the pool type, the approvals and the site access. We give you a programme after the survey rather than a number over the phone.
What Drives the Cost of a Pool
We quote a pool after seeing the site, because the same pool costs different amounts on different plots. These are the things that move the number:
- Size and depth. Surface area drives excavation, steel, finish and equipment.
- Pool type. Concrete, fibreglass and infinity builds carry different structural work.
- Shape. Curves, steps, shelves and raised walls add work to the shell and the tiling.
- Finish. Standard tile, mosaic, glass and pebble finishes sit far apart.
- Features. Overflow edges, spa seats, water features, lighting, automation, heating, chilling and salt systems.
- Site access. A narrow gate, a rooftop or a plot behind a finished house means more handling.
- Soil and groundwater. What the excavation finds sets the engineering.
- Approvals and NOC. Community requirements vary.
You get a fixed written quote after the site visit, with VAT shown separately.
After Handover
A pool needs routine care: skimming, brushing, chemical balancing, filter backwash and equipment checks. We offer pool maintenance, so the team that built your pool keeps it running and already knows its equipment. For repair, renovation or resurfacing of an existing pool, see our pool repair and renovation page.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need approval to build a swimming pool at my villa in Dubai?
Yes. A private pool needs the community or developer NOC where one applies, then an authority approval before excavation starts. On the mainland that is Dubai Municipality, and in Nakheel and Palm communities it is Trakhees. We prepare the drawings and manage the submission and inspections, and the permit itself is issued by the authority.
How long does it take to build a pool in Dubai?
It depends on the pool type, the approvals and the site access. A fibreglass shell is quicker on site than a custom concrete pool, and approvals can set the pace before any work starts. We give you a programme after the site survey instead of quoting a duration for a plot we have not seen.
Should I choose a concrete or a fibreglass pool?
Choose concrete if you want a custom shape, size or finish. Choose fibreglass if a standard shape suits you and you want less time on site. Fibreglass shells also need a route to deliver and lift the shell into your plot. We compare both against your site at the visit.
Do I need a pool chiller in Dubai?
Most owners want one. In summer an uncooled pool can get as warm as bath water and stop being refreshing. We size the chiller, or a combined heat and chill unit, with the pool, and leave room for it in the plant layout.
Can you build a pool on a rooftop or terrace?
Sometimes. A rooftop or terrace pool depends on the structure: floor loading, waterproofing, drainage and access all have to be confirmed first. We survey the building and have the structure checked before we draw a design.
Do you look after the pool after it is built?
Yes. We offer pool maintenance, covering cleaning, chemical balancing, filter care and equipment checks. Because the same team built the pool, it already knows the plant and the controls.
